Penn State women’s basketball is ranked No. 25 in the latest AP poll released on Monday, marking the first time the Lady Lions have been ranked since 2014.

Penn State has gone on an impressive run this season and began its season with a 7-1 start. The team’s only loss came at the hands of then-No. 8 USC in the Bahamas, a game which the Lady Lions lost by just one point. Behind impressive performances from Shay Ciezki, Leilani Kapinus and Makenna Marisa, the Lady Lions have put together strong wins over 2023 WNIT Champion Kansas and Oklahoma State, and a pair of 50-point victories over Navy and Radford.

Last week, the Lady Lions received their first votes in the AP poll since 2015. Upcoming games against West Virginia on Monday night and No. 12 Ohio State on Sunday night will give Penn State a chance to put together a pair of impressive wins to continue its potential ascent in the rankings.
