Can you say BUSY? Just two weeks to Christmas and seemingly everyone is BUSY.

It’s finals week at Penn State this week. Full of pressure, headaches, junk food and worse. But the finals are the annual rite of passage, not any drinking.

And then – for locals, QUIET. And plenty of parking places in downtown State College.

Don’t go too far though, especially if you’re a basketball fan. The PSU men and women both have two home games this weekend into next week and they’ll be looking for some fans at the BJC with the kids heading home.

Done shopping yet? Yet, me neither. Allegedly many Americans are pulling back on their holiday spending because of continued high prices. We’ll see later if that’s accurate but yes, finish your shopping while you can.

And of course the most important item – Christmas cookies. Sometime around the middle of next week my wife will go into her annual baking frenzy. Me, I just make homemade Chex Mix. Better than the original I think – I cheat and tweak their recipe. Sorry, that’s a trade secret.

Hopefully you took some time on recent Fridays to stop by one of the State College area Weis Markets stores to donate some non-perishable food or some $$ to benefit our local food banks. If you missed recent interviews on our Let’s Talk program you missed the comment from the director of the State College food bank that local demand for food help has increase a staggering 77% in recent years. It’s not too late to donate, just contact or visit any local food bank before next week. Your kind gift is MUCH needed.

Our Let’s Talk program will also be busy. On our Monday show (Dec. 11) we’ll talk with the state government reporter for Spotlight PA about issues in Harrisburg now and this year. How was Governor Shapiro’s first year? What about that one vote margin in the state house? And they’ll be off potentially for months because of a leaky roof? Seriously?

We’ll have two guests from PennDOT in the next week and a half. Next week we’ll have a guest on the new proposed Route 322 highway from Boalsburg to Potters Mills which has caused much angst and argument. The decision will be made next year – but where exactly? This Tuesday the 12th we’ll talk to another PennDOT manager about the idea of roundabouts in some places instead of stop lights. It’s an idea used in many other areas – why not here?

Watching the Eagles-Cowboys game this Sunday night, and former Nittany Lion Micah Parsons is an absolute force of nature. Can anything stop this guy? Just had a sack where he ran right THROUGH the offensive tackle. Oh, to be young again…

Speaking of football the Peach Bowl is just two and a half weeks away. Only two Nittany Lions have opted out of the game? And so far first team All American OL Olu Fashanu, a sure top 10 first round NFL draft pick, ISN’T one of them? More reasons to root for Olu, they just don’t make dedicated players like that anymore.

Have a great week – and don’t miss Let’s Talk! Always looking for more calls and conversations…
